The LECC Act places primary responsibility for the investigation of misconduct involving the NSWPF and NSWCC upon those agencies. The LECC independently ensures misconduct matters are dealt with appropriately by the NSWPF and NSWCC.

Media Release - Monitoring of Critical Incident at Lidcombe

1 April 2024

On 1 April 2024 a critical incident was declared by the NSW Police Force (NSWPF) in Lidcombe. The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) was notified of the critical incident by the NSWPF.

The NSWPF are investigating the circumstances of the incident and this investigation will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command. The LECC is independently monitoring the investigation of the critical incident under Part 8 of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016 to ensure public confidence in the investigation.
