MONITORING OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ENFORCEMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH ORDERS
The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission is an independent statutory body.
The Commission has reviewed the operational policies and guidance the NSW Police Force (NSWPF) has provided to police officers regarding the orders and restrictions made by the Minister for Health in relation to COVID-19 under the Public Health Act 2010 and how they should be enforced. This guidance has been comprehensive, and has emphasised educating members of the public about the health directions, encouraging voluntary compliance and using discretion where reasonable.
The Commission is monitoring the way the NSWPF deals with complaints about police enforcement of the orders and restrictions made by the Minister for Health in relation to COVID-19 under the Public Health Act 2010.
