Public can now track police responses to Commission recommendations
Friday, 14 March 2025
The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission has today unveiled a new feature on its website that provides greater access to information about how the NSW Police Force has responded to recommendations made in public Commission reports.
The public can use the easily-accessible data library known as the Recommendations Register by searching keywords or recommendation implementation status.
The Commission’s Register shows that, of the 255 recommendations the Commission has made since its inception in 2017, to date the NSW Police Force has
- supported 173 recommendations (of 255)
- implemented 90 recommendations (of 173).
Chief Commissioner Peter Johnson SC described how the Register enhances visibility of police responses to Commission recommendations.
“The Commission’s work is not finished after a report is tabled.
Our Recommendations Register highlights the continual work of the Commission, and the NSW Police Force, to achieve and track change whether it be to policies, procedures or legislation,” he said.
The Commission’s Recommendations Register is a compilation of information drawn from official responses to the Commission’s public reports.
It provides a point-in-time summary and is updated as the implementation status of recommendations change, and actions are taken.
The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act requires the NSW Police Force to notify the Commission of the action that may be taken as a result of any publicly-tabled reports.
The Recommendations Register is live and searchable on the Commission’s website here.
